Liam Payne says he dislikes Zayn Malik for “many reasons,” including the fact that he used to be in One Direction with him.
Despite the fact that he has expressed his displeasure with ‘Pillow Talk‘ singer Nicki Minaj over a number of issues, the ‘Bedroom Floor’ singer has stated that he will “always be on his side” following the singer’s messy split from Gigi Hadid, the mother of his 21-month-old daughter Khai.
“There are many reasons why I dislike Zayn and there are many reasons why I’ll always, always be on his side,” he revealed on the “Impulsive with Logan Paul” podcast.
The 27-year-old supermodel’s mother, Yolanda Hadid, claimed that her son Zayn pushed her, and Liam suggested that Zayn’s problem might be a “different upbringing” that has left him with emotional scars.
YouTuber, 27, asked him for advice “In the event that I had to go through what he had to go through, I wouldn’t be the same person. At times, I find my parents’ unrelenting encouragement to be grating. Zayn, on the other hand, came from a very different background.
If you’re just looking at where the man is, you can always conclude that he’s a scumbag. It’s all about realizing what he’s gone through to get there and whether or not he wanted to be there in the first place.”
Although he has a five-year-old son named Bear with his ex-wife Cheryl, 38, the star, 28, insisted he didn’t agree with any of his actions.
“Listen, I don’t agree with any of his actions,” Liam stated. Some of the things he’s done aren’t worthy of praise. Because of that, I’m not going to be on his side.”
Liam stated he has reached out to Zayn but was waiting for him to be “willing” to return his phone calls.
He said: “What I can say is I understand and your only hope is that at some time in their life, the person at the other end of the phone wants to receive the help that you’re ready to provide them.”
When Zayn quit the band in 2015, he said that he wanted to be a “normal 22-year-old who is free to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight”, after five years of touring with Liam, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson.
At the time, Liam said: “I’m super convinced us and Zayn will always stay the closest friends.”
Relations between the group degenerated when Zayn dubbed One Direction’s music “generic as f***” and later stated that the four surviving members had said “snide” things about him.
Zayn said: “I ain’t speak to any of them for a long time, to be honest with you.
“That’s just the way it is. There are things that happen and things that were uttered after I departed. Snide stuff. Small things that I would never have expected.”
